This is a modification of the horn manure or 500 biodynamic preparation as most of us know. Why i modified it and how the idea develops will be explained in this little text.

A bit of background

To start with, a little bit of info about the Situation. The garden has a cold, moony, shady, moist character, there is loads of ground water, a little pond, loads of shady areas, moss everywhere, loads of funghus on rotten trees, season starts late anyway, due to high altitude (around 350m above sea level) – but also because it has that shady, cold and wet micro climate I want to add agni hotra ash to the manure. When i applied the 500 before, I felt no effect. The cow pat pit by Mariah Thun made a little difference, but nothing substantial as i was used to. A BIG difference made the Horn Ashtree preparation that was developed by a friend of mine, Dirk Appel. Ashleaves have a lot of cupper – so Dirk made the prep out of the leaves of the ash and curled a cupper wire around the horn, when burried. That is the simple description – Dirk has put much more thought into it. I liked the idea, the Venus metal as a counterpart of the moon forces that are so apparent in the garden. And when i applied the Horn Ashleave Prep, I could not believe the difference it made. I only applied to the garden and it was a warm micro climate that I could sense. Anyway, all is only my personal observation, no scientic research.

How the idea developed.

From this observation developed the idea, I need more warmth forces. First i wanted to make the Horn Manure from horse manure – but then the Agni Hotra came into my mind. Agni Hotra is an ancient fire ritual from the verdic text. Some say, Rudolf Steiner took most of his knowledge for biodynamics from these ancient texts. Some don’t. In the agni hotra fire ritual one burns dried cow dung, with added ghee and rice. The Agni hotra ash is used in homafarming very succesfully. It has been extensivel tested and even scientifcally described and measured. more info can be found on the Website of the Heiligenhof in Germany. There is also a book published.

In short: Agni Hotra Ash has the sun forces in it. Exactly what i was missing in my garden. But applying only the ash is not so much my cup of tea, particular as I like biodynamcis so much. So I thought, adding the ash to the manure, might be a nice idea.

I also used manure from the galloway – just by accident as there was no other demeter farm nearby. I saw the po pile was a bit different to “normal” cows – it was more like a horse manure pile. I have not investigated the difference, perhaps it was only, because the cows mainly ate hey.

Recipe of Horn Manure Agni or 500 A

I gathered a bucket of manure. And used my 800ml glass of agni hotra ash. I used this glas of agni hotra ash on roughly 2 Kilo of fresh Gallowway Cow manure. I thouroughly mixed it by hand and then added the manure into the horn by hand. These were then burried in roughly 60cm depth. I placed the horn open down, towards mother earth (as I believe the breathing of mother earth, up and down, will help to gather the earth forces in the horn [my personal view]) and no water can gather in the horn. I burried them on the 28th of October – much to late. But better to late than never. I needed so much a horn preparation made in my garden – as i feel that will give so much more strength to the place. Lets see. Below some more pictures.

What are your thoughts on how i can balance this moony micro climate? Do you have similar situation? What do you do? In the near future I will cut out trees to get more light. I also want to bring “rotting places” in particular areas of the garden, near the fences, so I hope that way, I can establish a more light and warmth climate in the center. More to come on that. UPDATE

SPRING 2023

The biodynamic horn manure preparation went a bit bad – not as expect. It was my first time to burry many different type of preparations and I have to be honest, my organisation was also rather dynamic and when opening the hole in Spring, I had problems with frost. I did not burry the preparations deep enough. So I digged that I have now approximately 80-90cm. My forstestgarden is a) more forest than garden and by nature cooler than the environment, like on the farmers field 1km away. And b) its on 500m above sea level, so it was pretty cold and the frost goes pretty deep into the soil. I did not expect that.  

So I burried the horns again, around 30cm deeper, and let them in the hole until Summer. Just because I did not want to open too early and just to learn, they were still not ready. But in Summer they were ready, some were good, some not. More detail in another article. The Horn Agni came out pretty well but not as you might expect – there was no comparison with horn manure. My previous Horn manure smelled sweet, were beautifully dark – Horn Agni had not that sweet smell. But the reason could be, because it caught frost. So next spring I know more. 

This year I did not take any fotos.  But I have applied the Horn Agni and it is exactly what my garden needs. I have to ran more tests, but you need to imagine my garden/forest as a bit harsh, calcium environment – the oppositive of a cupper/venus environement. You have a lot of moss, moisture, mould on trees in some areas. But after I sprayed the Horn Agni it all warm and gentle, balanced it felt. Very similar environment, as I had after use Pfeiffer Cupper Preparation. 

I hope to get chromography images been done, so others can see more the nature of the preparations.  

Autum 2023

(13/11/2023) This Autum I did not do a horn manure agni (this how it should be called proper perhaps), as the name horn agni better fits the preparation I created this year. I used pure Agni Hotra ash that were moistened and stuffed into the cow horns. I did not take any pictures, but the process is not different to creating the Horn Silica 501. Use well burned Agni Hotra Ash- by that I mean, the ash has to be burned to the end, not put out before. Left until there is no heat and fire anymore. I explicitely mention this, perhaps others do the same, when doing Agni Hotra somewhere away from home and you dont want to wait 1h until its cold and use water to stp the heat. No, its important to the the Agni burn down completly until it has become cold on its own. No interference should happen. 

Secondly, be aware Agni Hotra Ash has perhaps through its lightness a lot of volume, so you need a lot more compared to Basalt or Clear Chrystal powder. I had 5 3 Liter bags and they lasted for 4 horns only. I was more than surprised. So collect a lot of ash over the year. 

The business as usually, stuff the horns in female horns. I used this year also male horns, but I can see that female horns from lactation cows really make the difference. For instance smellt my other preparations I did in female horns perfectly fine, where as I could smell amoniak in the male horns. So there is a difference, perhaps someone knows why I smelled amoniak in a male horn? 

I burried them in the End of September and will get them out End or March or perhaps End of April – I will see then. If you have tried, please comment  and let us know what your experience is.
